
SmartStorm is a disaster response community impact initiative produced in partnership with Lamar University Center for Resiliency and Southeast Texas Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD). This learning portal, available to the community via distance learning technology, provides useful, critical information for preparing for and coping with the effects of hurricanes, floods and damaging weather. This powerful tool can assist homeowners, volunteers, volunteer organizations, and interested persons not only in SETX but across the State of Texas, in preparation, organization, response, recovery, assessment and mitigation of the effect of disasters and storms.

SmartStorm Preparedness – Tier 1: Simple steps for how to prepare for storm emergencies during times of uncertainty. (Course length is 10 minutes)

iSTAT Awareness & Assessment Preparedness – Tier 2: Step by step guide for homeowners and interested persons on how to use the iSTAT reporting tool. (Course length is 10 minutes)

Post Flood Muck-Out and Gutting Preparedness – Tier 3: This course provides information to homeowners and interested participants on clean-up of homes affected by flooding and storm disasters. (Course length is 15 minutes)
